Whiplash is what happens when a collision throws your head through a fast range of motion your neck never agreed to. The joints, muscles, and ligaments take the strain, and the symptoms often arrive a day or two later rather than at the scene. For most people with common, mechanical whiplash, gentle chiropractic care has a strong safety record. A neck that has just been through a collision gets the lightest hand we have, so the first visit is a careful history and check before anything else, and low-force options are used while it is acute. If anything in your history or exam says you need to be seen medically first, we will tell you.

That is the usual pattern, not a surprise. Adrenaline masks a great deal at the roadside, and the inflammation that follows a strain takes a day or two to build. Symptoms arriving 24 to 72 hours later is typical of whiplash, and it is not a sign that you imagined it or that it is too late to do something about it.

Sometimes, and this is one of the cases where the bar is lower than usual. If your history or exam points to anything structural, we will arrange or refer for imaging before hands-on care begins. If it does not, most whiplash is a soft-tissue and joint problem that imaging will not add to.
