Considering Spinal Decompression for Low Back Pain?
Our Allentown office has been sucessfully performing spinal decompression.
What we have discovered is 7 steps that must be followed to handle low back pain.
How long would it take to handle your problem if you were handling the wrong problem?
Before initiating treatment a number of questions must be answered.
1. Is the back pain primarily due to the disc, muscles imbalance or combination of both.
This is determined by our "Low Back Functional Exam". Without knowing the cause, the solution, spinal decompression, could actually make your condition worse. What we have found, in our Allentown office, is even those whohave had spinal decompression in other clinics get better results. This is why it important to consider who is applying this technology and just the technology.
2. Why do you continue to have back pain?
This might seem like a silly question but, you need to consider normal healing cycles.
Normal pain cycles are usually two to four weeks. Consider someone who breaks a bone. The healing time might take 6-8 weeks but the major pain is usually gone within a week or two.
Why would you continue to have pain months or years later?
What we have found is there is a breakdown in one of the following body systems.
Neurologic System-This is the communication pathway from your brain to your body. If this system is impaired with, your body might be damaged but this information is not getting to the brain.
Adrenal System-This is your hormonal pathway that is directly linked to pain and inflammation response in the body. This is your stress/pain response system.
Structural System-This is the system that allows you to move, sit, stand, and walk. Our functional exam will evaluate which part could be at fault.
When the cause or causes of your problem have been identified
a proper course of action can be started.
The 7 Step Solution
1. Muscle Balance and Relaxation
Through specific application of trigger point therapy in conjunction with specific muscular and joint movement we can reset normal balance
2. Oxygen Therapy
In every patient with chronic lower back pain and/or sciatica, what we have found is, there is a decreased function of the cerebellum (part of brain that controls sensory and motor function of muscles). Since the cerebellum controls all of the spinal musculature in the body, the spine is one of the most oxygen dependant areas in the body. Oxygen enhances the decompression treatment.
3. Spinal Decompression
This a 9 Minute Video That Explains Spinal Decompression
The distractive forces performed by the table create decompression of the spine, to improve blood flow to the injured area. This is all computerized. The patient’s position on the table, the harness, and the angle of the gentle distraction allows for accurate and focused treatment to the affected disc or discs. The traction device is also programmed to deliver gentle stretching of the spine which is called “imbibitions”. This allows a normal disc to receive nutrition. This therapy uses a distractive force that is carefully applied with biofeedback to overcome the patient’s ability to reflexively guard against the force, thereby creating a total relaxation in the spine. When necessary, biofeedback allows the doctor to control and monitor spinal motion
4. Correct Body Hydration
This is accomplished with the right amount of water intake along with a specific salt solution that allows increased body hydration. As you get older, your muscles, discs, and ligaments
begin to dry out. This is why as you get older you begin to develop wrinkles. The same thing happens inside your body. As your discs "dry out" they damage quicker. This is why it is important to increase the water content inside the disc.
You can't do this by just drinking water. You need to consume a special, inexpensive, mineral salt solution.
5. Adrenal Gland Balancing
The adrenal gland makes anti-inflammation hormones. It is also your stress gland. When this gland does not function well you run out of anti-inflammation hormones. This sets up a condition for chronic pain. We perform an easy test to look for "adrenal insufficiency".
6. Body Specific Exercise Program
Depending on your muscular imbalance, you will be given easy
muscle retraining exercises.
